Military Families
Innercare WIC supports military families! Most enlisted families at rank E-6 and below with one child qualify for WIC. Because eligibility is based on household size, larger families may qualify at higher ranks too.
Military pay that doesn't count as income
When we calculate your eligibility, these are not counted as income:
- Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH), for on-base or off-base housing
- Family Separation Housing (FSH)
- Overseas Continental United States Cost of Living Allowance (OCONUS COLA)
- Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA)
- Veterans' Educational Assistance Program (formerly the GI Bill)*
- Family Subsistence Supplemental Allowance (FSSA)*
- Combat pay*
* We'll need a few more details to figure out how much of this pay to leave out.
Military pay that does count
Along with your basic pay, WIC counts:
- Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS)
- Family Separation Allowance (FSA)
